EIS Sheffield

 

The English Institute of Sport Sheffield (EISS) it is one of the country's most impressive indoor sports venues.

This multi-sport venue has a range of high quality facilities that are used predominantly by the community. However it is also the home of the Yorkshire region of the English Institute of Sport and is used by a number of national governing bodies, including boxing, judo, badminton, netball, table tennis, handball and volleyball.

There is also a specific agreement in place with World Snooker in respect of the Snooker Academy.

EISS opened in December 2003 and is leased by Phoenix Sports Ltd.

The facilities at EISS include:

  • Athletics arena (six-lane 200m indoor tracks and indoor throws area)
  • Badminton, netball, combat, boxing and table tennis halls
  • World snooker academy
  • Community health and fitness gym
  • Sports science and sports medicine facility
  • Elite heavy weights gym.

EISS is owned by Sheffield City Trust and is operated by Sheffield International Venues (SIV).

The centre is an important facility in national, regional and local sports provision.

Sport England National Lottery funding helps ensure that the facility provides sporting opportunities for local, talented and elite athletes.
