London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games

From dancing nurses to indefatigable Games Makers, from Super Saturday to a Paralympics like we've never seen before, London 2012 was a sporting triumph.

Now it's your turn.

Sport England is building on the inspiration and excitement of London 2012 to give you more places, opportunities and reasons to play sport and get involved.

Follow in the footsteps of glory

Even before London won the bid to host the Games, we were working with LOCOG to make sure many of the venues playing host to the world's elite could be opened  to the comunity after the Games.

Lee Valley is already open and work is underway to transform the Aquatics Cenre and Velodrome.

Uncover your inner athlete

Whether it is Nicola Adams putting women’s boxing on the map, Andy Murray ending the 76 year wait for a men’s grand slam champion or the many times that David Weir powered over the line in first place; 2012 has been the year of sport.

With these golden moments providing plenty of motivational fuel, it is now the turn of the everyday athlete to take centre stage and give sport a go.

There has never been a better time to try a new sport or rediscover one that you previously enjoyed and there are a lot of different ways that you can give sport a go
