Let the action continue
Another fantastic day was had yesterday by
ParalympicsGB with Ellie Simmonds picking up her second gold medal
in the Aquatics Centre, her fourth Paralympic title.
Simmonds stormed to victory in world record
time in the SM6 200m medley ahead of Germany’s Verena Schott and
ParalympicsGB’s Natalie Jones. Her stunning performances both
in London and Beijing have been invaluable to swimming in the UK
and have inspired scores of disabled individuals to take up the
sport including Susie Rogers who yesterday won bronze in the 100m
freestyle S7. Having watched Simmonds win 2 gold’s in Beijing,
Rogers was inspired to take the plunge and take up swimming.
If you want to be one of the 400,000 disabled
people who swim once a week, take a look at pool finder to find your
local pool and swimming club.
Elsewhere, ParalympicsGB success was seen in
equestrian with Natasha Baker winning her second gold in the Grade
2 freestyle.
Lee Pearson also picked up a bronze medal in Grade 1B freestyle
dressage giving him a medal of every colour at London 2012.
Speaking of his performance Pearson said “After the week I have had
with the horse I am pleased with the medals I have got and Rio,
here I come, but with a different horse."
With 62 medals already in the bag for ParalympicsGB what will
the next five days have in store for us?
