National Lottery Awards are back
Voting has begun for the annual
National Lottery awards which recognise the positive impact lottery
Good Causes have throughout the country. National Lottery players
raise over £30m for Good Causes every week including
sport.
This year two Sport England funded projects,
Longridge Activity Centre and Back to Netball, have been
shortlisted in the Best Sport Project category.
Longridge Activity Centre is an innovative
outdoor activity centre, enjoyed by people of all ages, abilities
and backgrounds. The project has received over £1.2million in
funding from Sport England to transform an old dilapidated Scout
Camp site into a fantastic new facility which includes a new indoor
training facility and changing rooms allowing the project to
operate all year. Lottery money was also spent on new Dragon Boats
and launches for the Men’s GB Team and the Women’s GB Team.

Back to Netball encourages women of all ages
to take up sport across England and rediscover their love of
netball. The emphasis of these sessions is on learning new skills
and having fun playing Netball with friends. Watch the video to

Also in their category is ‘Wheels for
Wellbeing’ a charity based in Brixton that promotes disability
cycling across South London.
The winning project, which will be decided by
public vote will be celebrated at a special star-studded BBC One
Show later in the year and will receive a £2,000 cash prize to
spend on their project.
Voting for the final starts on 9am on Tuesday
