David Weir has won his second gold medal of the London 2012 Games as ParalympicsGB picked up a further four gold medals to remain second in the medals table.

Weir’s fourth Paralympic gold medal of his career came in the T54 1500m in a record time of three minutes 12.09 seconds. The wheelchair racer could pick up more gold medals with the 800m and marathon still to come before the Games end.

England Athletics is encouraging disabled people who feel inspired to give athletics a go to register their details at the England Athletics website so that the organisation can provide the right information about getting involved. People can also go to the Club Finder tool to find a club or Run England Group that suits them.

Clubs, coaches and event organisers can also find out more about the support and advice available to them at the England Athletics website.

Others successes for ParalympicsGB yesterday included Sophie Christiansen’s third gold medal of the Games in the grade 1a individual freestyle and Heather Frederiksen’s gold medal in the S8 100m backstroke.

In Archery, an all British final of the compound open saw Danielle Brown defeat Mel Clarke.
