Potential solutons

From the information that Sport England has gathered from the sector we are seeking the following types of projects to increase participation in HE students as well as address the above challenges.

Widening the sporting offer

Through intramural activity, social/informal opportunities, hybrid versions of sports, widening access to sport, sustainable taster session approaches (for example Sport unlimited), club development, new clubs, teams or activities, inclusive opportunities

Utilising spare capacity within the community sport system

Improving community club links, developing community clubs to cater for student players where there is excess demand (extra coaches/development of senior sections), enhancing links with local partners

Workforce

The development of a workforce to deliver student sport and increase student participation, for example; volunteers, sports coaches, officials or activator/co-coordinator type roles. We do not propose to fund sport-specific development posts

Facilities and provision

The hire of external facilities or purchase of equipment which will improve access to sporting provision and improve utilisation of external facilities where spare capacity exists. Where a strong case can be made; Sport England may consider modest structural building adaptations that can be proved to be essential to enable the delivery of your project.
