Frequency of Active People Survey reporting
For the past few years Sport England
has published rolling 12 month results for the Active People Survey (APS) every quarter.
Following a recent review and user consultation future results will
be released every 6 months.
Having reported APS results each quarter
for the past two years, Sport England no longer felt this was the
most effective method of identifying the sustained performance
trends required to assess the return on our investments. So earlier
in the year we consulted users of Active People survey statistics
for their views on changing the frequency of reporting from every 3
months to every 6 months.
In total, 56 views were expressed about the
proposed change to APS reporting frequency, of which, 47 (84%) were
supportive of changing the reporting frequency. Given the number of
consultation responses received, their coverage of key
stakeholders, and the clear majority of views supporting the
proposed change to reporting frequency, Sport England has decided
to implement the change in reporting frequency. A report providing
fuller details of the consultation process, the views
expressed, and Sport England’s response has been
produced.
The next set of APS results covering
the rolling 12 months to 14 October 2011 will be published on 8
December 2011.
