This fact sheet is based on a detailed secondary analysis of the 2002 General Household Survey dataset. The analysis explores two features of participation:
multiple sports participation, as an indication of sporting lifestyle profiles, and the generic relationship between family and household structure and sports participation.

Sport England and sportscotland undertook a joint survey of synthetic turf pitch facilities in 2005/2006. The main objective of the research was to help inform the Facility Planning Model (FPM) which is used to assist decisions relating to the strategic provision of sports facilities. The findings raise a number of issues which will be of interest to a wide audience including local authorities, facility providers, governing bodies and other sport-related bodies.
