Recruit into Coaching
Recruit into Coaching aims to recruit 10,000 coaches by 2011.
Recruit into Coaching aims to recruit and train 10,000 volunteer
coaches and put them to work in 70 of the most deprived areas
of England by 2011.
- 5680 of the coaches will be
delivered through the network of school sport partnerships in
school settings
- 4320 will be delivered through
the network of county sports partnerships) in community
settings.
Recruit into Coaching has been
developed and is being implemented jointly by Sport England and the
Youth Sport Trust with support from sports coach UK and
Skills Active on behalf of the Department for Culture, Media and
Sport (DCMS).
Launched in 2007, by the then Secretary
of State for Culture, Media and Sport, James Purnell. It is part of
the coaching workstrand of the PESSYP as it is
strongly linked to the School Sport Coaching Programme.
The 70 areas were selected using the 70
highest ranked local authorities based on the Indices of Multiple
Deprivation.
