Meeting with CLG and DCMS Officials to discuss Rates

Sports Policy News

The 2010 revaluation of Business Rates have begun this week, with significant increased costs for a number of clubs up and down the country. Sport England has met with senior officials from the Department for Communities and Local Government and the Department for Culture, Media and Sport to discuss the impact of increased business rates on sports clubs and those in receipt of a capital sports lottery grant. Officials have agreed with Sport England that this is a serious issue which needs to be addressed urgently. We have raised this at ministerial level and have support from both the Sports Minister and the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport to progress this on behalf of community sport. We are working closely with both departments to reach a beneficial solution for sport as soon as possible.
